In recent years, Rotherhithe (and the surrounding area) has transformed beyond recognition. The working ports have been totally regenerated, creating exciting residential, commercial and cultural zones. It’s no wonder that it’s becoming such a popular place to call home. The New Pier Wharf development, situated by the river and close to Rotherhithe village, offers the best of dockside living. Here’s more information.

Returning to Its Roots

Before the Elizabethan era, Rotherhithe was considered the ideal area to escape from busy Central London. However, over time it grew to become one of the city’s busiest ports, and its tranquil charms were sacrificed in favour of trade and export.

In the 1980s, a slow reversal started to take place, returning Rotherhithe to its former glory. Industrial ports gave way to stylish apartments, and downtrodden pubs were given a fresh lease of life. As a result, it’s now considered one of the city’s most desirable upcoming locations.

All About the Location

New Pier Wharf is situated in an area that’s tough to beat. It takes just three minutes to reach Canary Wharf by train (or four minutes on the river bus), and four minutes to London Bridge. Liverpool St station is six minutes away, Paddington station 17 minutes, and Heathrow Airport 48 minutes by train.

That’s not to say you necessarily need to take the train, as so many places are within walking distance. Greenland Wharf Pier takes about four minutes to reach, Tesco Extra and Odeon Cinema about quarter of an hour, and Surrey Quays station is a 16-minute stroll away.

Everything Close By

A major draw is the sense of peace and tranquillity, thanks to the numerous green spaces close by, not to mention the river itself. The Thames Path passes directly outside New Pier Wharf, and along this route, you’ll find the Tate Modern, the Southbank, the London Eye and much more.

The area is full of some of the city’s finest bars, restaurants and pubs, so you won’t have to travel far for a great evening out. The Mayflower is a popular choice with locals, as is The Blacksmith’s Arms.

Chic Riverside Apartments

The apartments in New Pier Wharf capitalise on the great views of the river, with many offering floor-to-ceiling windows to take in the surrounding landscape. Internally, residents will appreciate the impressive specifications – hardly surprising, given that the apartments were developed by Hollybrook, who have won several accolades over the years, including the RIBA Housing Design Award and the NHBC Seal of Excellence award.

Each kitchen has been individually designed to suit the dimensions of the apartment, with chic handleless doors and quartz worktops. The quality continues in the bathroom, with Hansgrohe taps and showerheads and marble-effect porcelain floors. There’s engineered oak flooring in the living areas, and low-energy LED lighting throughout as a cost- and energy-saving measure.

Availability

New Pier Wharf offers a range of one, two and three bedroomed apartments, plus a limited number of duplex options. Given its location and high standard of design, interest is already high and its anticipated that all apartments will be taken quickly.
